History

The Journal de Comunicación Social, a scientific journal produced by the Department of Social Communication at Universidad Católica Boliviana "San Pablo" in La Paz, emerged in the year 2014 initially with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS). Subsequently, starting in 2017, the journal has been exclusively funded by UCB. Until the year 2022, it was under the responsibility of the Bolivian Center for Social and Communication Studies (Cibescom) of the Department of Social Communication.

The work carried out since its creation has allowed for the establishment of a valuable platform for dissemination in the field of Communication Sciences in Bolivia. The digital version of the journal began circulating in the year 2019 through the open-source software Open Journal System, under the direction of the University's Central Library. This enables free and open access to our journal, making it possible to access each article with the aim of reading, downloading, copying, printing, distributing, or sharing for consultation and scientific communication purposes.

Those who were in charge of the journal throughout these years, Mr. Rafael Loayza Bueno and Dr. Guadalupe Peres Cajías, instilled a commitment to quality and the promotion of scientific knowledge dissemination within the Department of Social Communication. Above all, they paved the way for its consolidation and outlined the main guidelines to make this journal a reference in the field of Social Communication in Bolivia. Since the end of 2022, the journal has been under the direction of Mr. Claudio Rossell Arce, who is working to further enrich the journey that began in 2014.
