This speech, delivered in 2022, is a sketch of the history of recent democracy in Bolivia – the one that did not exist, the one we have, the one we long for. From a journey through crucial moments in the history of Bolivia, those milestones that founded moments such as the so-called “reconquest” of democracy, from the historic gesture of the government of Hernán Siles Suazo, in 1982, are reviewed. The author reflects on the reach of the political actions that have allowed its consolidation, but also about the problems that have been faced, with political actions and speeches that have been denting it.
