An interview with Amaru Villanueva Rance conducted in 2018 by Claudia Andrea Rivera Sotelo is presented, focusing on the issue of the diffuse conceptualization of social classes in Bolivia. The discussion is framed within aspects such as social stratification, social ascent, ethnicity, and discrimination in a country that has undergone profound social changes and, at the same time, tensions that have generated discursive disputes. As part of the research, Rivera Sotelo decides to explore the structure of social classes in Bolivia, particularly the complexity of the formation of affective relationships between individuals of different social classes, in the context of postcoloniality.
