Abstract

Quito, Ecuador, played host to the “First Latin American Communication Congress CIESPAL-FELAFACS.” This three-day event, held on October 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2023, convened the largest gathering of educators, researchers, students, and communicators from across Latin America, focusing on the challenges and tensions between Latin American ideologies and contemporary communication practices leading into 2030. Through exhibitions, keynote lectures, and discussions spanning various themes, the congress successfully rekindled the fundamental tenets of critical communication thought in Latin America, emphasizing a commitment to communication imbued with a humanizing, inclusive, and democratic ethos.
